About Us
We believe food should be simple. And honest.
Vegica Foods was started by us — Shakshi and Shivam Jindal — because we kept noticing the same thing: somewhere along the way, the food on our plates stopped tasting like the food we grew up with. The makhana came from who-knows-where. The spices were blended with fillers nobody mentioned. The labels said one thing, the ingredients said another.
So we decided to build something different. A brand where you actually know what you're eating, where it came from, and how it got to you.
From the ponds of Madhubani. Direct to your kitchen.
Our makhana is grown and processed in Madhubani, Bihar — the heartland of India's foxnut farming and the proud holder of the GI tag for Mithila Makhana. We work directly with the farmers who harvest it, sort and grade it at source, and air-pop every piece — never fry it — to lock in its natural crunch and nutrition. No palm oil.
Our spices follow the same philosophy. Single-origin. Small-batch. Ground fresh and packed without colors, fillers, or anti-caking agents. Just real chilli, real turmeric, real coriander — the way our grandmothers would have recognized them.
Why we do it this way.
Because transparency isn't a marketing word for us — it's the whole point. We want you to know exactly which farm your makhana came from, exactly what's in your spice jar, and exactly why it tastes the way it does. When you can trace your food back to its source, you don't have to choose between convenience and trust. You get both.
A small team. A clear mission.
We're a small homegrown team based out of Mumbai with our manufacturing in Palghar, Maharashtra and in Bihar. We're FSSAI licensed, APEDA and GS1 registered, and members of the Spice Board of India and FIEO. The certifications matter, but what matters more is that every batch passes the simplest test of all — would we feed it to our own families?
The answer is always yes. That's why it's on your shelf.
